About the Journey

What does a gal who has a license to teach, do hair, and sell real estate in the state of Texas do? She writes a blog of course!
I truly believe in living a "why not" kind of life, treasuring each and every moment and looking for adventure even in the small things.

Originally, I created this blog while planning my wedding; it was born from a second chance at love with the promise of a full life. Today I write this blog because I enjoy it and I want to connect with you! If there is one thing I know for sure, to live...to really live people must be connected, so why not share in the fun? Welcome to our family's zany life because like you, our days are a work in progress. Let's journey into the tasks together! Many days I feel like I'm living a fairytale, and other days I feel like I've lost my glass slipper, but this family, probably much like yours, is thankful for the blessings we're given each day. Follow along to read entertaining anecdotes, find easy-to-make recipes, get tips about places we've traveled, learn beauty secrets, find out how I stretch a dollar when I've only got a dime, and other fun finds.

About the fam: For starters, we have two teenage daughters named Maddi, his and hers! Maddie (Madison) desires nothing more than to model and she IS gorgeous, but she stands at gargantuan 5'4"!  And Madi (Madilyn) believes deep within in her soul that someday she will work on Broadway (her favorite movie is Hello Dolly, no joke). My oldest (Bella) is in college at the University of Florida majoring in Environmental Science: she is one of the few tree huggers born and bred in Texas! I am, well, a master of the moment. I was a hairdresser fourteen years before I ventured into education. After five years in the public school system I began working from home as a skincare concierge. I was a teen mom before it was cool (thanks MTV). During my twenties I put myself through college, worked a full time job, served as classroom room-mom and on the PTA board at my girls' school, bought my first house (all by the age of 25) and cherished every crazy moment of it! I make best friends for life and in 2010 I married my soul-mate, Matt and everyday we grow as a couple and family.  He is my Prince Charming, he is my forever.

I wake up every morning and thank the good Lord for my blessings and wait to embark on the next, big adventure! Read along for stories about everyday living from this wife, mom, friend, skincare concierge, writer, ex-hairdresser, ex-teacher, burgeoning chef, novice decorator, Southern Living enthusiast, travelling wanderlust, licensed real estate agent, jack of all trades-master of the moment, and overall curator of her castle.  Welcome to my modern day fairytale, where I reside in the burbs, Dallas, Texas...palace in progress.
